Westport Writers' Workshop Celebrates 20th Anniversary In September

To commemorate the milestone, the nonprofit group is hosting a bash at the Saugatuck Rowing Club on Sept. 6.

WESTPORT, CT — The nonprofit Westport Writers’ Workshop (WWW) celebrates their twentieth. anniversary with an evening bash on Sept. 6 at the Saugatuck Rowing Club, starting at 6:30 p.m. The bash includes dinner, drinks, and dancing to the Dylan Connor Trio. They’ll toast their past, honoring seminal members in their history such as founder Jessica Bram and former Executive Director Valerie Ann Leff, while highlighting future plans. The public is welcome to attend, and tickets cost $150, including an open bar.

“We’re ecstatic to celebrate our huge milestone with friends, family, and supporters of the local arts,” says Executive Director Blake Schnirring. “WWW is honored to play a critical role in the Westport community. We look forward to many decades more of championing the written word and enriching our student’s lives.”

WWW has packed the evening with entertainment beyond the music. Storyteller Dan Hurley will write guests’ life stories in 60 seconds. In addition, WWW will also offer a number of silent auction items, ranging from themed baskets such as: a Compo Beach Basket, a Jazz Age Basket, and a Lobster Basket including a gift card from Rowayton Seafood. They’ll also offer baskets filled with fashion from local vendors Bungalow, Tina Draggone and Milly Raes, plus many instructor baskets full of coaching and editing hours, manuscript consultations, self publishing coaching and more. Monies raised with underwrite WWW’s outreach programs that serve underrepresented populations such as the Bigelow Senior Center, Moms of Children with Disabilities and STAR. These programs serve over 100 participants annually, allowing students to discover their voices under the guidance of WWW’s trained and accomplished faculty members.
