Westport's Education Grants Would Increase In Lamont's Proposed Budget
The town would also see an increase in other grants from the state under the governor's proposed two-year spending plan.
WESTPORT, CT — Westport is looking at an increase in the education grants it receives from the state, under Gov. Ned Lamont's proposed two-year budget.
The town is estimated to receive $589,729 in education grants from the state for Fiscal Year 2025, and that amount would rise to $610,400 in Fiscal Year 2026. It would remain at $610,400 for FY 2027.
Overall, the governor is proposing about $160 million more in funding for education grants throughout the state.

Lamont's proposed two-year budget is $55.2 billion, or $27 billion in FY 2026 and $28.2 billion the following year.
In addition to education grants, the state also gives grants to municipalities to help make up for non-taxable properties, such as schools and churches.

Under this grant program, Westport would again see an increase in Lamont's spending plan.
Westport is estimated to receive $1,827,482 in municipal-specific grants in FY 2025, and it would increase to $1,856,588 in FY 2026. That figure would again be the same in FY 2027 at $1,856,588.
