Westport's Sherwood Island Needs $5.18M In Repairs: Report

The area's aging infrastructure puts it "among the parks with the highest need for investment," state officials told CT Insider.

WESTPORT, CT — Westport's Sherwood Island State Park is in need of repairs totaling around $5.18 million, CT Insider reported.

The area is popular, but its aging infrastructure places it "among the parks with the highest need for investment," Will Healey, a spokesperson for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, told CT Insider.

Among the repairs are $3.38 million for a maintenance complex, $1 million for restrooms and a pavilion, $500,000 for a new bridge and $300,000 for electrical utility upgrades, CT Insider reported.

Sherwood Island State Park is Connecticut's first state park. It has a nature center, picnic grove and observation platform, according to the state's website.

Officials have identified a total of $130 million in needed upgrades to state parks throughout Connecticut, according to the news outlet.
