World's Largest Abstract Painting Event + Concert on October 24

Join MoCA Westport & Trace Burroughs in Guinness World Record Attempt!

Join MoCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) Westport on Saturday, October 24 from 1-3 p.m. for the World’s Largest Abstract Painting Event and Concert!

Local accomplished artist Trace Burroughs, who has produced and exhibited in numerous group and solo shows in Fairfield County and beyond, will lead the outdoor family event.

The event also includes a special concert by New York City’s singing cowboy, Hopalong Andrew, whose high-spirited music has made him a family favorite.

The event will be an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the world's largest abstract painting (8'10" x 20'). The previous Record for the largest expressionist painting was held by Jackson Pollock, for a painting that was 8'10" x 17' 6".

Bring the whole family with masks and enjoy socially-distanced painting while helping to set a Guinness World Record. The number of attendees will be in accordance with CT State guidelines.

It is recommended that participants wear old clothes and shoes as paint splatters are expected.

Ruth Mannes, Executive Director of MoCA Westport, stated, “We are thrilled to partner with Trace on this event and to be the setting for this World Record attempt. We hope to have a great turnout for an exciting family day of music, art, and community.”

Attendees should plan to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for concert seating. Food and drinks can be purchased from the onsite food trucks, or guests can bring their own picnic basket.

The rain date for the event will be Sunday, October 25 from 1-3pm. The cost to attend is $50/family for MoCA Westport Members and $75/family for non-members. Register for the event now on the MoCA Westport website (mocawestport.org) or by calling 203/222-7070.
