Rocky Hill Congregational Church is offering a free, non-religious playgroup for children from infancy through age six and their caregivers. “Wiggles and Giggles” will meet monthly on the third Saturday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon, offering a welcoming space for connection, creativity, and early learning. The program was created in response to the shift in programming away from Babies and Bubbles at Rocky Hill Public Library, and to make children's programming and parenting education more accessible to working caregivers.
“Wiggles and Giggles,” is a non-religious playgroup open to all. It centers on caregiver-child bonding through playful, developmentally informed activities.
Each session will include:
- Themed songs
- A hands-on craft
- A simple STEM activity
- Fellowship for grown-ups
Prof. Sue VanNess, an experienced early childhood educator, will be available to chat with caregivers about child development, attachment, and learning through play. In addition, RHCC’s WISE mental health team will offer peripartum mental health resources for those interested.
“When we learned the library had to scale back its Saturday programming for young children, we knew we could help,” said Lauren Dube-Scott, RHCC’s youth pastor. “Healthy attachments and resourced caregivers strengthen our whole community. RHCC is a place of welcome, support, and plenty of snacks. We’re thrilled to offer this space for families to connect and grow. Having Sue on hand adds an extra layer of care and expertise.”
