4/20 Arrests, Stop and Shop Theft, Coyote Warning

Wilton Police log, April 19-25

The following information was taken from the Wilton Police log for the week of April 19-25.

Sunday, April 25

  •  Update: Outhman Dahir, who was after allegedly stealing an elderly person’s credit card, has been charged with credit card theft, illegal use of a credit card, and credit card fraud. Dahir has a court date of March 5 and is held on a $10,000 bond.
  • A concerned pet owner from Buckingham Ridge called police to report a coyote which had chased the owner’s dog, on the owner’s property. The dog escaped. Police are warning residents to keep their small dogs and cats in doors at night.

Saturday, April 23

  • A vehicle traveling northbound on Route 7 drove off the shoulder and down a grassy embankment near Bruce Bennett Nissan, where it then crashed and capsized into a stream which feeds into the Norwalk River. The operator, Rachel May, 23, of Bethel, exited the vehicle of her own accord upon arrival of police. She was transported by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation. Fire personnel, who had also arrived on scene, rescued a dog from the car. The dog had kept itself above water which had apparently flooded some of the vehicle, and had incurred no apparent injuries. The investigation is pending and no actions have been taken.
  • At around 2 p.m., purse was reported stolen from a shopping cart at Stop and Shop while the shopper had left the cart and purse unattended. The purse was identified as a navy blue Vera Bradley with pink elephant designs. Inside the purse were credit cards, $100 in cash, and the owner’s driver’s license. The victim was a 16-year-old female. Authorities are working with the Stop and Shop’s loss prevention team and will be reviewing security footage when and if it becomes available.
  • Hong Jun, 42, of Wilton, was arrested with assault in the third degree after he allegedly attacked his wife in a domestic dispute.

Thursday, April 21

  • An officer happened across an unoccupied car parked at Gregg Preserve off of Mayapple Lane. The car was unsecured, unoccupied, and at least one of the windows were down. When the officer ran the plates, they came back unregistered, although this was later to determined to be because the plates were freshly issued. The officer found a marijuana pipe and a small baggie of pot in the car as the officer was doing an inventory to secure the car’s valuables. Shortly thereafter, Andrew Kittel came back to the car and acknowledged that the vehicle belonged to him. Kittel was targeted with possession of less than four ounces and possession of drug paraphernalia. 
  • Two men, Fredrick Joyner, and Derrick McBroom, were discovered fishing without a license and within a private area. They were both issued tickets of $179 for trespassing and license-less fishing

Wednesday, April 20

  • A Ridgefield minor, female aged 17, was found sitting in her parked car on a secluded part of Tito Lane at night. Suspect was questioned by police and a search of the vehicle produced a glass smoking pipe, a small amount of marijuana, a beer, a cigar, and other pieces of unidentified drug paraphernalia. Suspect’s identity is not being released because she is a youth offender.
  • A car was stopped on Clover Drive for not having a front license plate. When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed the potent smell of marijuana wafting from inside the car. The driver, Kevin Dombroski, 29 of Ansonia, was unable to produce a valid insurance card. The vehicle was searched, producing paraphernalia and drugs which were suspected to be marijuana were found. Additionally, a three foot long sword in a black sheath was found in the car. Dombroski faces charges of having a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, failure to display plates, and driving without insurance. 
  • A husband, William Blair, 62, of Wilton, was charged with disorderly conduct after his wife called in to complain that Blair had opened a door on her forearm, bruising her. Blair was issued a promise to appear in court.
  • A car carrying three teenagers was pulled over on Route 7 for crossing over the double yellow line. Two underage females, both aged 17, and one 19-year-old male, Carlos Orellana, were found to be in possession of marijuana. All parties claimed ownership of the drug and hailed from Norwalk. The girl who was driving was charged with failure to drive right, driving without a license, and possession of marijuana while the other two parties were charged with possession. All three were given a promise to appear in court after processing procedures.

Tuesday, April 19

  • David Pollack, 32, of Wilton, was charged with violation of a criminal protective order. Pollack had previously been involved with domestic arrests and was found to have been using narcotics; the court had issued an order that he was not allowed to use narcotics any longer. However, Pollack allegedly violated that order and was found in possession of drugs once again. His bail was posted at $7,500.
