A World of Color Inside the White Walls of Wilton Library

John Maurer's paintings are inspired by his travels in Europe. The colorful artworks are on display at Wilton Library through Oct. 30, 2013. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 from 6:00p.m. to 7:30p.m.

John Maurer's paintings adorn the gallery walls inside the Wilton Library's main entrance and will remain featured through Oct. 30,2013.

Maurer, a colorist who is influenced by Impressionsts and Expressionists, primarily exhibits in juried art festivals in the US. His paintings are also in numerous private collections.

"I try to approach each new work with a fresh eye for color, line and textural variation," Maurer said in a release from the library. "My choice of tools is primarily the palette knife but this has grown to include a greater use of brushes and paper towels into the painting process as well as charcoal and pastel. The subject matter is unlimited as I continue to travel in search of views that are unattainable in this hemisphere."

A majority of the works in the library are available for purchase with a portion of proceeds benefiting Wilton Library.

An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 11 from 6:00p.m. to 7:30p.m.
