Charity Event at Pearl
The following is a press release from the owners of Pearl Restaurant in Georgetown.
Dear Friends of Pearl,
As promised a while back, Pearl has created a "Guest Bartender" night, probably to be held monthly, where: a friend of Pearl will bartend and invite a group of friends to attend, the cash tips will go to a charity of the guest bartender's choice, and Pearl will donate a portion of the proceeds at the bar to the same charity. Our first such "Guest Bartender" night will be next Thursday, May 26, from 7 p.m. onward.
We planned to do this from as long ago as early March, and are finally doing it after having fully recovered from our flood damage, and getting back solidly on our feet and fully ramped up. It has been a long haul, but it is behind us now. Hopefully, the rain all this week will not give us a repeat performance of the March "Armageddon". We hope all of you are staying dry (and of course we hope the same for your basements and crawl spaces!!!).

Anyway, back to the issue at hand...our first Guest Bartender will be Harry Somerdyk, a long time friend of Phil and Maureen, who has kindly offered (and we eagerly accepted) to be the guinea pig for this momentous (tongue planted firmly in cheek here) occasion. Those who know Harry have come to love his droll sense of humor and quick wit, and know he is comfortable both in front of and behind the bar. (Phil will be "backing" him up behind the bar in case he's a little rusty).
Pearl will have light "munchies" at the bar, but our full Lounge and Dinner menus will be available also in the Lounge and in the Dining Room. The charity Harry has selected is Female Soldiers * Forgotten Heroes which is a project dedicated to helping provide transitional housing for female veterans, a wonderful worthy cause that strikes close to home for many of us, whether we have family members in uniform or not!! In a further show of support and generosity (aside from helping arrange and participate in this first "Guest Bartender" event), Harry and his wife Meg have pledged to match the tips received at the bar for the evening. We thank them with all our heart.So........come on over to Pearl next Thursday, starting at 7 p.m, enjoy the talking, eating and of course do it all for a great and worthy cause.
