Dust Trail Leads to Empty Table, Cars Keyed in Library Parking Lot, and other Crimes around Wilton

The following information was obtained from the Wilton Police Department for the week of June 15-21. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

Assaults

  • 6/17: A 54-year-old Wilton woman was charged with assault in the third degree after allegedly punching her 43- year-old boyfriend in the face after a verbal argument escalated, police said. The victim declined medical attention, although he did receive injuries to the face, according to the police report.
  • 6/15: A 16-year-old female from Wilton “bit and scratched” her mother after a disagreement, according to the police report. The juvenile was charged with assault in the third degree and disorderly conduct, according to the report.

Burglaries and Larcenies

  • 6/20: A cell phone tower shack on Gilly Lane was broken into within the last 10 days, according to police. To gain entry, an installed air conditioner was pushed in, and some of the surrounding sheet rock was destroyed, according to police. Nothing in the shack was reported missing and there was no reported disruptions of service for the tower’s users, according to the police report.
  • 6/17: Police said a Wilton man came home after a long day, and noticed a trail of saw dust leading from the garage. Upon inspection, the man found that his full-sized table saw, an older model Sears Craftsman worth about $150, had been stolen, according to police. Police reports say that entry was gained through an unlocked door to the garage, and that no other items were taken.
  • 6/17: A personal bag of photography equipment was taken from the office of DATTO Inc., located at 43 Danbury Road, police said. According to police, the victim had left the equipment at the office over the weekend. The missing items include a Canon Rebel XTI camera, several lenses, two battery packs, a 4 gig and an 8 gig flash card. Police said the stolen equipment was estimated to be worth $2,000.

  • 6/18: Police stopped a car traveling on Route 7 by Cricket Lane after observing it weave between the two south bound lanes, police said. Police said that the driver, a 21-year-old Danbury man, Jonathan Vazquez-Atemiz, was found to have consumed alcohol before driving; he was given a sobriety test and failed it. Vazquez-Atemiz was arrested and charged with failure to drive in the established lane, driving without a license, and DUI.

Cars Keyed in Library Parking Lot 

  • 6/17: Police said they received a complaint that two vehicles of two different library employees had been keyed in the Wilton Library’s parking lot. No other information is available at this time.

  • 6/17: Police said they received a complaint of a suspicious person near Oak Ledge Lane and Wolfpit Road. Police said the complainant said this person was a black man dressed in yellow pants, a blue shirt, and a red hat, and that he was stretching. Police said they investigated the area but found nothing.
