Fairfield Co. Safe from Tornados, while Springfield, MA Suffers Casualties [Lots of Video]
Youtube users chronicle the tale of twisters which avoided Fairfield County but killed at least four people in Massachusetts earlier today.
Fairfield County got off easy, with nary a blast of thunder resounding from the radio forebodings of a which grumbled through the thick and humid air stagnating below an overcast, afternoon sky.
But Springfield, and Brimfield, Massachusettes suffered horrible damages today, June 1, the city smashed and ravaged by winds from several twisters which have caused at least four deaths, the Huffington Post reports. The tornadoes touched down at about 4:20 in the afternoon, causing about 26,000 people to go without power, according to the same Huff. Post article.
The New York Times reported that Massachusettes Governor Deval Patrick declared a state of emergency earlier today, and that a minimum of two twisters had touched down and caused damage across 19 communities. So far, two deaths were recorded to be from Westfield, one from West Springfield, and another death from Brimfield, according to the Times.

At around noon, the National Weather Service had issued a tornado watch for Wilton and the rest of Fairfield County through 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1.
