Midnight Car Thief Strikes Again

Police caution residents to lock their cars.

Eight vehicles parked in six different residences’ driveways were burglarized late Sunday night, police said.

Five of the homes hit Sunday night were located on Ridgefield Road, while one was hit on at the beginning of Drum Hill Road, police said.

This marks the consecutive of car thefts; to this date, 26 vehicles at 18 homes have been illegally entered or stolen from.

All of the vehicles were unlocked in their owner’s driveways and the homes were located in the same geographic area, which includes Cheese Spring, Duck Hill, Thayer Pond, Wood’s End, Pheasant Run, and the Hidden Lake Ridge Roads.

Stolen items from this weekend’s spree include $800 in cash, an iPod, a portable DVD player, gift cards, and a GPS.

The area afflicted by the car theft blight is being monitored by police, but the boys in blue need residents to do their part: lock your car doors and keep an eye out for indications of the car thief. Police are encouraging residents to err on the side of caution, and to call in suspicious activity.
