Wilton Garden Club Brightens The Holidays For Town Members In Need

Wilton Garden Club (WGC) spread holiday cheer to town members in need last week with two special workshops:

At Comstock Community Center, in partnership with Wilton Senior Center, WGC held its monthly Healing, Therapy and Senior Gardening program during which WGC members helped 30 Wilton seniors make festive evergreen arrangements. “We really enjoy working with our town’s seniors throughout the year, and especially now to brighten their holidays,” said Mary Otocka, chair of WGC’s garden therapy team. “We’re grateful to Stephanie Rowe, director of Wilton Social Services, for her support of this very popular program.”
And at Old Town Hall, WGC members made its annual stunning holiday centerpieces for community members in need. Janet Lane, chair of the WGC civics committee, said the group created 29 arrangements, 19 of which were donated to Wilton Social Services to be distributed to its clients, 7 were given to homebound members of WGC, and 3 were donated to Ambler Farm’s greens sale.

Andrea O’Meara, WGC president, said: “Community service is at the heart of Wilton Garden Club. We’re very pleased to spread holiday cheer through our love of gardening and nature.”
