Wilton Soccer Association Hosts 30th Annual Tournament
The 30th Annual Nutmeg Invitational Soccer Tournament included over 40 teams from around Connecticut.

Editor's note: The following is a press release from Kathy Bonnist on behalf of the 2011 Nutmeg Invitational Soccer Tournament.
The Wilton Soccer Association (WSA) recently hosted the 30th Annual Nutmeg Invitational Soccer Tournament which took place in Wilton on June 12-13. The WSA appreciates the support from the Town of Wilton as well as the many dedicated parent volunteers and generous local sponsors who made this event a success.
The tournament, which included over 40 teams from many Connecticut towns, is organized and managed entirely by Wilton parents from the U11 Girls Travel teams. These volunteers worked very hard to make sure that every aspect of the tournament reflected well on the WSA and our community. In addition, parents of all WSA Girls Travel teams serve as field marshals during the tournament.

Special thanks go to Wilton’s Larry Cooper, who arranged for Nestle Waters to donate water for the tournament; and to Nike, for donating all new soccer balls for the weekend. These balls, along with others donated by tournament attendees, were given to the Kick For Nick Foundation to be distributed by American troops to children in Afghanistan.
The WSA would also like to acknowledge the generous support of The Village Market, Stop & Shop, Caraluzzi's, Swizzles, The College Creamery, Etoile Gifts, Fine Designs, and Tom-e-toes. These sponsors not only supported the WSA but added to everyone’s enjoyment of the event. Wilton’s Brian Noonan should also be commended for organizing the snack stand at tournament headquarters.

Finally, sincere thanks go to Karen Silverberg, the WSA’s VP of Girls Travel, whose insights and expertise on all details of this event were invaluable. Thank you, again, to all who contributed to the success of this year’s event.
