2 Killed As Jeep, Car Collide In Windsor

A two-vehicle crash in Windsor claimed the life of two people, police said.

WINDSOR, CT — Two people were killed Monday in a two-vehicle crash in Windsor.

The collision took place at 4:43 p.m. at the intersection of Windsor Avenue (state Route 159) and Park Avenue (state Route 178).

Both passersby and police were able to pull three people from the wreckage, according to a incident report. All were injured and two were unresponsive, police said.

One of the cars had caught fire as a result of the accident.

Police said an investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Malibu was heading northbound in the southbound lanes of Windsor Ave as it approached the intersection of Park Ave. A Jeep Compass was turning south onto Windsor Ave from Park Ave and was struck by the Malibu, according to a report.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as 51-year-old Remicia Francis, of Windsor, died at an area hospital after being taken from the scene, according to a report. The front-seat passenger of the Malibu was identified as Corey Mackey, 42, of Hartford. Mackey also died at a nearby hospital, police said.

The driver of the Malibu, who was not identified, sustained serious injuries and was last reported to be in stable condition at the hospital.

The North Central Motor Vehicle Accident Reconstruction Squad was called to the scene to complete the investigation. Anyone with information on the crash is being asked to call the Windsor Police Department at 860)-688-5273.
