Annual Back To School Block Party A Huge Success In Windsor
Nearly 3,000 families, students, staff, community members and volunteers created a vibrant hub of excitement and community spirit.

WINDSOR, CT — The third annual Back to School Block Party, hosted between Sage Park Middle School and Windsor High School on Aug. 22 was a resounding hit, according to event organizers.
Nearly 3,000 families, students, staff, community members and volunteers were in attendance, marking the largest turnout in its history. The event transformed the area into a vibrant hub of excitement and community spirit.
Attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including free backpacks and school supplies for all students, free ice cream bounce houses, and the opportunity to connect with over 30 local vendors. This year's Block Party was proudly sponsored by Amazon, whose partnership added an extra layer of excitement and support to the event.

"Windsor Public Schools is ecstatic to build relationships with our community partners like Amazon, who are committed to strategically partnering with us to provide an even more robust experience for our students and families," said Gianna Gill, Head of Communications and Partnerships for Windsor Public Schools. "Beyond monetary assistance, Amazon is offering exposure to computer science fields through field experience tours and a special speaker series featuring Amazon leaders like Glendowlyn Thames (Economic Development). We also want to thank Jerome Smith, Head of Community Engagement - New England, for his commitment to elevating our initiatives and supporting our students in meaningful ways."
Dr. Michael Mallery, Director of Social Emotional Learning and the OFCP, said, "We are overwhelmed by the incredible turnout and the positive energy that filled the streets [Thursday]. This event is a testament to the power of community and the importance of coming together to support our students. We are grateful to everyone who made this day possible and look forward to building on this momentum throughout the school year."
