Award-Winning Author To Give Family History Talk

What you should know today, Tues., July 12, 2011.

1. The Windsor Historical Society's genealogy series, continues tonight with a talk from award-winning author Leslie Albrecht Huber. The session, also described as a class because of the tips provided to those interested in discovering their own family history, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Historical Society.

2. Huber is the author of The Journey Takers, the tale of her family's history and the result of ten years of searching for clues, hints, records and other significant findings. The interactive talk, the Historical Society said, will appeal to fans of the television show "Who Do You Think You Are?" and will give those in attendance the tools they may need to get started on their own search.

3. The cost of tonight's program is $10. The series will conclude next Tuesday with a talk on finding African-American family history.

4. On this day in history, 1957, President Dwight D. Eisenhower took the first presidential flight in a helicopter.

5. The forecast initially called for rain and thunderstorms, but the chance of rainfall has now fallen to 20-percent. Today will be mostly sunny, with a slight chance of showers and a high of 93ºF. Temperatures will cool to a comfy 66ºF tonight, according to National Weather Service reports.
