Letter to the Editor: Thanks to All Who Have Supported The Wilson Nursery
Lori Butterick, Director at Wilson Nursery School talks about the nursery's closing and thanks those who have supported them for early half a century.

It is with sadness that we are announcing that Wilson Nursery School will be closing as of July 30. We have been housed in the Wilson Congregational Church building. Unfortunately, the church stopped holding services in September and sold the church in May to the Holy Temple Church of God in Christ. We finished classes with our annual year-end celebration and preschool graduation on June 10.
On June 14, the new owners informed us that the rent would be increased substantially. Unfortunately, upon multiple reviews of our financial situation, we came to the conclusion that we would not be able to afford the increased rent and would not be able to afford moving to a new location in such a short time frame. We made the decision to close. If we had been aware of this possibility, we would not have accepted enrollment for next year. We apologize to our families who enrolled their children with us as they all needed to make alternative arrangements.
Wilson Nursery School was founded 45 years ago. We have been one of the few traditional preschools that accepted toddlers. We have had a variety of programs over the years including music and movement classes, exposure to foreign languages, visits from the fire department and other community helpers and animal visits. We have held events for our families such as Frosty the Snowman breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, pancake suppers, Open Houses and the year-end celebration. We have had children whose parents were students. All but one of our teachers had children attend WNS.
We are saddened to close after so many years of service. We appreciate all the support we have received from our families. We will miss all our children and their families. We would like to thank all of the teachers who have put their hearts in to teaching at WNS over the years. The children of Windsor are better because of you.
