[Updated] New Superintendent Will be Elected Wednesday

A special meeting will be held Wednesday at Town Hall.

Update; 11:22 a.m.

The identity of Windsor's new superintendent will remain under wraps until his official election Wednesday, according to Board of Education President Doreen Richardson.

Richardson was, however, able to confirm that the individual is male, is currently a superintendent in another district, and board members are unanimous in their decision to hire him.

According to Richardson, the board is choosing to withold his name to allow him to "go through the proper channels of leaving" his current district.

The unnamed superintendent and terms of his contract were agreed upon by board members during a private meeting Monday night.

Contract negotiations have been completed, and he will formally be elected and required to publicly sign a contract with the district, Richardson said.

"We are excited to have him come to Windsor. We feel he has the skills and expertise that will serve to build on existing accomplishments and transform our district in a way that is best for our children," she said.

Richardson also cited his experience "transforming school systems with the use of technology and integrating technology into classrooms, his significant experience transforming student achievement and his experience working in diverse communities like Windsor."

According to Richardson, the soon-to-be-elected superintendent's administrative career began in 1999 as an assistant principal, followed by his acceptance of a position to become an associate superintendent in 2004 and superintendent in 2008.

The pool of candidates, she said, were narrowed down from eight to one during two rounds of interviews, with final interviews being held on Nov. 9 and 10.

The board has not officially taken a vote to approve his hiring, as they are barred from doing so during a private session.
