Police Dog "Iko" Entertains Windsor's Sheltered

Iko's appearance was just one of a few activities provided at Windsor's storm shelter on Wednesday.

With hundreds of residents seeking warmth and electricity at Windsor's storm shelter, the town organized a number of events to keep people's minds off of the nights away from the comforts of home.

Wednesday afternoon, Windsor Police K-9 Iko paid sheltered residents a visit. Iko, a German Shepherd, is Windsor Police Officer Steve Vesco's partner on the job. He also lives with Vesco's family.

Vesco brought Iko on stage and fielded a number of questions from kids and adults in the audience at L.P. Wilson's auditorium.

The auditorium was buzzing Wednesday afternoon, as Iko's appearance was just one of a few activities organized by volunteers, including the transformation of the auditorium into a movie theater, using a bed sheet in place of a silver screen, and bingo.
