Rep. Storms Hosts Community Conversations

Community members joined Rep. Storms at the Windsor Locks Diner and Get Baked in Windsor for casual conversations about state government.

From the Office of the Representative: In an effort to stay connected to local residents, State Rep. Scott Storms (R-60) recently held “Coffee and Conversation” events in Windsor and Windsor Locks.

Members from the community joined Rep. Storms at the Windsor Locks Diner and Get Baked in Windsor for casual conversations about the current legislative session and state government in general. Common themes from the meeting included the shifting of teachers’ pensions to towns, the proposed firearm permit fee increases, and potential implications from the proposed casino.

“It is extremely important that I stay connected with my community members in order to ensure their voice is heard in Hartford,” said Storms. “Many residents expressed reservations that I share with a number of bills. With over three thousand bills proposed this legislative session, events like these help me to determine constituent concerns and their positions as to specific proposed legislation, allowing me to better serve their interests.”

In addition to the Governor’s proposed budget, residents also expressed concern about the opioid crisis, the possibility of tolls and the cost of living in Connecticut.

“Having informal conversations and direct contact with residents is a great way to identify issues important to my district,” Storms said. “I look forward to future events in order to better understand and serve the needs of my communities.”
