70 new apartments and several new businesses open as construction continues, officials say.
WINDSOR, CT — Founders Square reached a significant milestone this week as the ribbon was cut on phase 1 of the project, according to a post from Windsor Economic Development.
The first phase includes 70 apartments, five ground-floor commercial spaces, and new amenity areas for residents. Phase II, now under construction, will add 50 more apartments, officials say.

Town officials say the project is helping bring new activity and foot traffic to downtown Windsor.
Founders Square is considered a transit-oriented development, located just 500 feet from the Windsor train station, which serves Amtrak and the Hartford Line, and is close to CTtransit bus service.
The state supported the effort with $3.2 million from its Communities Challenge grant program, part of a $30 million investment, according to town officials.
