Town Council to Address Needed Road Repairs

The council will vote on more than $1 million of improvements Tuesday night.

In December, town officials released the results of the bi-annual citizen survey. At the very top of public grievances was town services with regard to road repair.

Nearly 20 percent of survey respondents characterized Windsor's road repair services as bad or very bad.

While its unlikely that that town council's agenda for Tues., Jan. 3 was created in immediate response to the survey results, some residents will be glad to know that the council will hear three new ordinances that amount to more than $1 million in road repairs.

The ordinances include $545,000 for repairs to Harvey Road and Hillcrest Road, $695,000 for improvments to Maple Avenue, Spring Street and Court Street, and $150,000 to improve the operation of stormwater systems throughout town.

In all three cases, the council will have to approve borrowing money through bonds and set public hearing dates.

During its meeting Tuesday evening, the council will likely approve borrowing more than $600,000 to purchase a new truck for the Hayden Station Fire House.

A public hearing will be held at 7:20 p.m. for residents to voice their opinions of the fire truck purchase.

The council's meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall Council Chambers.
