Connecticut outpaced some true legends of gas-price gaudiness, including New York (second in the Lower 48 at $3.944), Alaska (a mere $4.020!), California ($3.813) and Washington D.C. ($3.895).  Just a year ago, the average price for a gallon of gas nationally was a paltry $2.718. Today, that national average stands at $3.695 … and rising. So, what effect has this spike had on your driving habits? More car-pooling? Less day-tripping? Did you buy that mountain bike or Vespa or Smart Car you've had your eye on?
