Firefighter Injured When Burning Home Collapses In Woodbury: Reports

A firefighter was pinned when a burning home collapsed Sunday in Woodbury, according to reports.

WOODBURY, CT — A Woodbury firefighter was injured when a burning house collapsed Sunday afternoon, WTNH News-8 reported. Firefighters were extinguishing a blaze at a Ridgewood Road home on Sunday when it collapsed.

It took crews 23 minutes to pull the pinned firefighter out, WFSB 3-TV reported. The firefighter was transported to the hospital with injuries but is reportedly in excellent condition.

It's expected the injured firefighter will be released Monday, according to WFSB 3-TV.

The home's second floor collapsed when four firefighters were inside.

Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the blaze. The fire started in the kitchen and extended through the house, which has been deemed a total loss, WTNH News-8 reported. At least one person has been displaced due to the fire.
