Kid’s “Farm School” Focuses on Sheep in September!

A wonderful event for children at Flanders Nature Center that is sure to delight!

While their older siblings set off back to their own school plan on bringing your preschooler to Flanders Farm School! The farm School series kicks off on Friday, September 16 and is designed so that young children can be "a farmer for the day" visiting and helping feed the animals at the Flanders North Barn. The theme is "Baa, Ram, Ewe" when they will be learning all about sheep!

Kids and their caregivers will meet the Flanders Shetland sheep and feel their beautiful, soft wool used for knitting and felting. They will see a yarn-spinning demonstration and learn how a shepherd takes care of these incredible wooly wonders. They will then enjoy a hands on experience using some wool for an art project to take home.

Activities will be based at the Flanders North Barn located at 644 Flanders Road in Woodbury from 9:30 to 10:30. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $5 for child and caregiver for those who are Flanders members and $10 for non-members. Register online at www.flandersnaturecenter.org or call 203-263-3711, ext. 10, for more information.
