Officer Assaulted During Traffic Stop In Woodbury: Police
The officer was hospitalized after being assaulted by a driver during a traffic stop in Woodbury, according to police.

WOODBURY, CT — A Woodbury police officer was assaulted during a traffic stop Thursday in Woodbury, according to Connecticut State Police.
Police said the officer, who is assigned with the Woodbury Resident Trooper’s Office, conducted a traffic stop around 1:25 p.m. on Oct. 3 on North Main Street in Woodbury.
During the stop, police said the officer was injured by the driver of the vehicle and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The suspect is in state police custody, and police said there is no threat to the public.
The scene remains active, according to police.

During a news conference, state police said Officer Tim Wright was stabbed while executing a traffic stop, as reported by WFSB 3 TV. Wright was stabbed in the neck, according to WFSB 3 TV. The 35-year officer is currently listed in stable condition.
NBC CT reports that during the traffic stop, the driver fought with Wright and then ended up stabbing him. Wright sounded an alarm and other officers arrived at the scene and were able to take the suspect into custody.
The identity of the suspect has not yet been released.
