Woodbury Firefighters Welcome Xmas Gift:
The Gift is a Brandnew Cut-Out Saw (Seriously)

Woodbury Firefighters happily received the $1,000 gift of a battery-powered DeWalt cut-out saw from Stanley Black & Decker, a worldwide group based in New Britain, CT. on Christmas Eve. Then they decorated adjoining streets with candlelights as part of the town’s Luminaria display, and went back to business combating fires and performing rescues at the rate of more than one a day.
“We are very appreciative of the gift,” said Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan, adding, “Cut-out saws really are an essential firefighting and rescue tool.” They are used to cut through roofs for ventilation and release smoke or explosive gases, through concrete walls and metal doors for access, and through automobile steel in extrication rescue efforts, she said. The saw, fresh from its box on Christmas Eve, replaces a much heavier, 30-year-old two-stroke, gasoline powered model that is obsolete.
In all, the Woodbury fire volunteers responded 410 times in the year to Christmas 2025. The total included 73 car crashes, 56 hazardous conditions such as chemical spills, 37 weather events such as fallen power lines, and 28 fires.
