WDEL.com said those people were not shot; their injuries were not specified.

State police said the shooting was not a targeted active shooter attack on the mall, the WDEL.com report said.

The shooting happened in the food court, 6ABC in Philadelphia reported, with one witness saying they heard six or seven shots fired.

Christiana Mall was locked down shortly after the shooting, with customers and employees kept inside, according to witnesses. All access roads to the mall were closed to traffic Saturday night.

A person inside the mall tweeted video from one of the stores, where store employees could be heard saying they were told to move store staff and customers to the stock room because of an active shooter situation.

State police began evacuating the mall about 7:45 p.m. and about 10 p.m. announced the evacuation had been completed.

"DSP thanks the public for their patience and continued cooperation," state police said in a tweet, adding they had set up a reunification site for people trying to connect with friends or loved ones who were at the mall.

"This investigation is in its early stages and is active and ongoing. Additional information will be released once it becomes available. Please avoid the area," state police said.
