Brawl At Delaware School Ends In Charges, Arrests For Students

NEWARK, DE — Nine teens are facing charges following a large fight at Glasgow High School in Newark on Tuesday, according to Delaware State Police. At least two students were charged with inciting a riot in connection with the fight, police said.

Police were called to the school just before 11:40 a.m. after a school resource officer discovered eight students fighting in a stairwell, according to a state police news release.

The officer and school staff attempted to break up the fight, police said. Once the students separated, many continued to fight in smaller groups until police arrived.

Nine students were taken into custody, police said.

One student — a 17-year-old female —was in possession of a Taser, police said. She was charged with felony rioting, carrying a concealed dangerous instrument, menacing and disorderly conduct. Another 17-year-old student was also charged with felony rioting, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, police said.

The remaining seven students were issued criminal summonses for disorderly conduct, according to police.
