'Disturbing Video' Shows Florida Mom Hitting Her Baby: Police
Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith described the video as both "gut-wrenching" and "infuriating." The mother has been charged with abuse.

FLORIDA — A Florida mother was in jail after police said video captured her hitting her baby.
Tya Posley, 23, has been charged with cruelty toward a child/abuse.
On Tuesday morning, Sanford police said they were notified of a "disturbing" video posted overnight on social media that showed Posley striking the baby.

Officers were able to confirm the identity of the infant and adult in the video and paid a visit to their home at the Windchase Apartment complex. Officers said they located both the baby and Posley.
The baby was removed from Posley’s custody by Child Protective Services, police said.

"The video showing what this helpless infant endured is both gut-wrenching and infuriating," Police Chief Cecil Smith said in a statement. "Through social media often brings about many challenges, today is a day I am grateful for it as it brought forth swift relief and protection for this young child. Thank you to the many citizens who saw this video and immediately alerted us. You may very well have saved this infant’s life.”
According to multiple news outlets, including the New York Post, Posley is the baby's mother.
She reportedly struck the baby's face and back, before the video cuts out, according to accounts.
