FL Ranks Among Most Fun States In U.S.

If you want to have fun, Florida is the place to head with a variety of ways to cut loose, according to one new study. Personal finance site WalletHub ranked the Sunshine State No. 2 on its list of the most and least fun states in America.

WalletHub used 26 indicators to determine which states were the most fun, ranking everything from most restaurants and movie theaters per capita to access to national parks and the arts.

The most fun state was deemed California due to its large number of restaurants, amusement parks, movie theaters, and fitness centers.

The dubious moniker of the least fun state went to West Virginia.

Florida draws visitors to its endless beaches, scenic Everglades, historic sites such as St. Augustine, the Space Coast and Disney and Universal theme parks in Orlando.

Sea life can be explored at sites including The Miami Seaquarium, a 38-acre oceanarium in Biscayne Bay; Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, which cares for injured manatee and other marine animals; SEA LIFE Orlando, home to Florida’s only 360-degree tunnel; Discovery Cove in Orlando; the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, a working hospital focused on rescue, rehabilitation and release of otters, sharks, pelicans and other animals; and the Tarpon Springs Aquarium, where you can watch a SCUBA diver hand-feed the dangerous inhabitants, including sharks, said Visit Floridad.

Florida was ranked 2nd for entertainment and recreation options, and 6th among all states for its nightlife.

Other attractions include historic downtown Venice, ZooTampa in Tampa, the Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditorium in Orlando, the Gulf World Marine Park in Panama City Beach, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Merritt Island and Adventure Island, Busch Gardens' Waterpark in Tampa.

Florida is home to the Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Florida Marlins, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning.
