FL Boy With Autism Rescued From Pond On Christmas Night: Watch

This was the second time the 6-year-old boy was rescued from a pond near his home, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

DELTONA, FL — A 6-year-old boy with autism who was rescued from a pond near his Deltona home last summer was rescued again on Christmas night from another pond nearby, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said. (Watch a video from the boy’s rescue below.)

The boy, Coco, was cold but unharmed when Air one led deputies to him in chest-deep water off Conyers Court around 6:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.

Coco is nonverbal and is known to be attracted to water.

He started swimming lessons after his last rescue from a pond in August 2024.

Deputies spoke with his family about improving precautionary measures on the house and having Coco wear his AngelSense tracker at all times, the sheriff’s office said. “But most importantly we're just glad he's back home safe.”
