FL Mom Leaves Sleeping Toddler On Sidewalk While In Nightclub: Sheriff

A Florida woman's night at the club landed her behind bars after deputies said her 3-year-old toddler was found asleep on a sidewalk.

FLORIDA — A Florida woman’s night at the club landed her behind bars after deputies said they found her toddler asleep on a concrete sidewalk.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to Gibson Street around 1 a.m. Saturday after a security officer found a 3-year-old wrapped in a blanket asleep on a sidewalk.

Deputies said they soon learned that two more young children were asleep alone in her apartment.

Authorities did not say how old the other children are.

Deputies said they arrested Shyla Heidelberg, 25, of Fort Walton Beach after she returned home from the nightclub.

Deputies said she admitted that she had gone out to a nightclub about 90 minutes earlier, leaving the children unattended.

She has been charged with three counts of child neglect without great bodily harm.
