Florida Releases Names Of Positive Cases
State announces long-term care facilities with those infected with coronavirus

After concerns about transparency and the public’s right to know, the Florida Department of Health on Sunday identified the names of long-term care facilities with COVID-19 cases.
The 303 facilities show infections in 45 of the 67 counties in Florida.

The largest numbers are in Dade, with 54 facilities; Broward, 39; Palm Beach; 36, and Pinellas, 25.
The First Amendment Foundation in Tallahassee published commentary last week, urging that the state identify the long-term facilities that have infections.

“The state should release records that would show which long-term care facilities have active COVID-19 cases, but it hasn’t. Instead, we find stronger leadership in places like Pensacola, where Mayor Grover Robinson called for the state to disclose nursing home data,” wrote Pamela Marsh, a lawyer and president of the First Amendment Foundation.
