Pac Report: Friends Of Ron Desantis Gave Money Back As Cabinet Fundraising Continues Slow

Campaign contributions reports for committees backing Gov. Ron DeSantis and members of the Florida Cabinet show continued sluggish fundraising amid the COVID-19 response during May, with the governor’s political committee actually showing a deficit for the month.

The Friends of Ron DeSantis report reflects an inflow of $25,000 from Chicago investor and philanthropist Marshall Field and a refund for that same amount. The report also shows a $12,500 refund to Rhodora Donahue of Naples, widow of the late investor and philanthropist Jack Donahue.

The result was a declared total of negative $12,241.67 for the month. DeSantis is a Republican.

Treasure Florida, which raises money in support of Republican Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, collected $3,050 during May, following two months in which it raised no money whatsoever. His biggest gift during May was $1,000 from Panama City philanthropist Karen Durden.

Florida Consumers First, the PAC supporting Democratic Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Nikki Fried, reported only $6,000 during May, following $1,000 in donations during April. The May donations included $5,000 from Winter Park businessman Brian Albertson.

Friends of Ashley Moody, benefitting Florida’s Republican attorney general, collected zero dollars during both May and April.
