That vow came to fruition in the late hours of the evening, with news networks projecting the win. That gave Trump 29 electoral votes toward a path to reelection.

That doesn’t mean the presidential election is over. Former vice president Joe Biden is still ahead in the popular vote and in electoral votes, for the time being.

Trump had taken the lead against Biden earlier in the evening, and continued to widen it as vote tallies came in.

With almost all precincts reporting, the state reported 51.26 percent for Trump, and 47.84 percent for Biden.

However, the count of all mail-in ballots has yet to be completed in most counties in Florida, according to the elections division.
