WATCH: Crocodile Breaks Out Of Van, Jumps Onto Busy Florida Road

The crocodile managed to break out the van's window to escape and then make a dash for it down a Florida road, zoo officials said.

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL — Some drivers got quite the show — and perhaps even did a double take —after witnessing a crocodile escape a zoo van and make a dart for it down a Florida road recently.

According to St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park, on Tuesday, workers loaded up the 8-foot-long reptile in the van to relocate it to another area of the zoo.

The crocodile had other plans, however.

Zoo officials said the crocodile managed to break the back window of the van and make a dash down the road.

"Our crew acted quickly to recapture it and deliver it safely to its new habitat," the zoo posted to Facebook.

Jessica Stark happened to be at the right place at the right time and captured zoo workers wrangling the crocodile back into the van.

The animal’s mouth was secured so at no time was there any danger to the public, zoo officials said.

"THIS is why we have extensive training and do drills, to prepare for moments like this," the zoo said.
