• Gulf, Franklin poised to receive Triumph funds (franklincounty.news) — Franklin County is set to receive up to $250,000 in Triumph Gulf Coast funding to turn a hangar at Apalachicola Regional Airport into an aviation maintenance and powerplant training center with Haney Technical College. The program aims to deliver FAA certifications, attract aviation businesses, and make the airport one of the county’s largest employers, while neighboring counties secure separate workforce and tech-education grants.

Anglers take 1st place after scouring Gulf for these fish (bradenton.com) — A veteran redfish tournament captain says the fishery around Apalachicola is one of the Gulf Coast areas that has really improved, alongside spots like St. Marks and Crystal River. His experience scouting across Florida helped him and a teammate win a major Gulf Coast redfish event, underscoring how strong certain Panhandle waters have become for serious anglers.
   

• Gregg Stanton, divemaster, honored by marine lab (franklincounty.news) — A new artificial reef off the Franklin County coast will be named the Gregg R. Stanton Memorial Reef, in partnership with the Apalachicola Artificial Reef Association, honoring a pioneer of scientific diving and marine education. The FSU Coastal and Marine Laboratory has also dedicated its dive locker to Stanton, recognizing his decades of work training divers and advancing artificial reef projects that benefit waters off Wakulla and Franklin counties.
