A Baby Boom at Busch Gardens

If you thought ’ cheetah , wait till you see the baby squirrel monkey, anteater and kangaroo that the park has welcomed this summer.

The squirrel monkey and anteater were born in June, and Busch Gardens keepers haven’t figured out yet if they are male or female. Once they identify the genders, the animals will get names. (How about Sweet and Adorable?)

The squirrel monkey is extremely curious and spends most of its day riding around on its mother’s back. (Awww!)

The new anteater is a month old and weighs less than 5 pounds. The baby will grow up to weigh more than 100 pounds like its mother, Adelhi, and father, Buddy. Anteater babies nurse for six months and are carried on their mothers’ backs for up to a year. (Is your heart melting yet?)

Busch Gardens’ newest baby kangaroo, or joey, has been named Louis by his keepers at Walkabout Way. He weighs less than 10 pounds and spends most of his day in the pouch of his mother, Lulu. When he becomes confident enough to spend the majority of his day outside of the pouch, he will join the kangaroo mob at Walkabout Way. (Too… much cuteness. Must… look… away…)

If you’re heading to the park to see these babies for yourself, slow down a minute. They’re all being raised by their parents in private areas right now, but they’ll be welcomed to guest viewing areas around the park soon.

And don’t blame me if you go into cute overload after looking at the photos. I tried to warn you.
