And rehabilitation centers will share their work caring for injured birds and other animals, including the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary, the Raptor Rescue of Tampa Bay and Sarasota Dolphin Research.

"Our area offers spectacular habitats and special birds and wildlife living here," said Hillsborough County Commissioner Pat Kemp. "Leaders have thoughtfully committed resources for decades to protect them. From Theodore Roosevelt designating Passage Key a Federal Bird Reservation in 1905 to today’s conservation lands acquisitions by Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Polk, Sarasota and Pinellas counties to National Wildlife Refuge lands, state parks, city parks and local conservation organizations, this means that thousands of acres in this part of Florida are currently managed as native lands."

The mission of the Florida Birding & Nature Festival is to promote appreciation and conservation of Florida’s birds, its wildlife and their habitats through responsible nature-based tourism and public awareness.
