VALRICO, FL — The community has come together to raise more than $19,000 for a longtime volleyball coach who suffered a heart attack, requiring him to undergo quadruple bypass surgery.

Tim Rovnanik is the coach for the Bloomingdale High School volleyball.

"Our beloved Coach Tim suffered a heart attack and required quadruple bypass surgery," said Detria Elsner, who has established a GoFundMe page on the coach's behalf. "As a result, Coach Tim will have a long recovery ahead of him. He will be unable to teach and coach for a while. Therefore, we want to help support Tim and his family with all of the medical bills and expenses they will be faced with soon.

"Tim has exceeded the doctor's expectations," she said. "His numbers were great yesterday and they took him off the heart machine and removed the intubation. He still has a long way to go but is doing great. The Rovnanik family is overwhelmed and grateful for the generosity the community has shown thus far."
