Bloomingdale Road Rage Shooting Investigation Remains Active
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has released the names of both men involved in Friday's shooting on Bloomingdale Avenue.

BLOOMINGDALE, FL — As the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a fatal Friday evening road rage incident on Bloomingdale Avenue, more details in the case have been released. According to the agency, both men involved in the dispute were armed before the fatal shot was fired.
The incident in question occurred on Bloomingdale Avenue near Kings around 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14. Authorities say when they arrived on the scene, they found Kenneth Michael Cuevas, 27, of Riverview injured from a gunshot wound. Cuevas was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but died from his injuries.
"The shooting appears to be the result of a road rage incident that occurred on Bloomingdale Avenue near Kings," the sheriff's office wrote in a Friday email to media. "The two vehicles were stopped in traffic when the individual that is now deceased got out of his vehicle and walked back to the shooter's vehicle."

Cuevas and Michael Hayes, 47, were both armed, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Debbie Carter said Monday.
Deputies say words were exchanged between the two motorists and shots were fired. Hayes, a Valrico resident, pulled off the roadway and waited for law enforcement, the email noted. Authorities say Hayes has cooperated with law enforcement.

"It appears that the two individuals had an earlier road rage incident just moments prior to the second incident/shooting," the email noted.
No charges had been filed as of Monday morning, Carter said. The investigation is ongoing with no further information being released at this time.
