Fireworks Responsible For 3 New Year’s Night Fires, Including 1 In Riverview: Officials
A Riverview family was displaced after a fire tore through their home overnight on New Year's, Hillsborough fire officials said.

RIVERVIEW, FL — Fireworks caused at least three fires overnight on New Year’s, including one that displaced a Riverview family, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue wrote in a social media post.
Firefighters responded to a home on Mile Marsh Drive in Riverview just before 1 a.m. (Watch videos from the scene below.)
It was the fourth working fire handled overall by HCFR overnight on the holiday.

Responders found “a fully involved” two-story home ablaze with the fire threatening a neighboring house, fire officials said.
They used hand-operated hoses to protect the nearby home and used defensive tactics, including aerial operations, to bring the house fire under control in less than an hour.

The residents, who were alerted to the fire by smoke alarms, were able to safely evacuate. There were no injuries and the American Red Cross is helping the displaced family.
