Boil Water Notice Impacts 95,000 In East And South Hillsborough County

About 95,000 residents in Brandon, Valrico, Riverview, Wimauma, Dover and Sun City Center will need to boil their water due to bacteria.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — More than 95,000 residents in east and south Hillsborough County will have to boil their tap water before using it for cooking or eating.

Hillsborough County issued a precautionary boil water notice Tuesday for residents in Riverview Brandon, Lithia, Valrico, Brandon and Sun City Center.

The county said there was a problem when water pressure dropped below an acceptable level in the area. Although water service has been restored, those living in the impacted area will need to boil their water until further notice from the county.

The impacted area is bounded by Interstate 75 to the west, Brandon Boulevard (State Road 60) to the north, Turkey Creek Road to the east and south of State Road 674 to the south.

Residents should boil water for at least one minute before drinking it or using it to cook. Residents should let the water run clear before washing clothes and they should dispose of ice from automatic ice makers.

The precautionary boil notice will remain in effect until county testing determines the water is free of bacteria and safe to consume.
