Bumper Suddenly Falls Off Car, Kills Motorcyclist On I-75: Cops
A Riverview driver's motorcycle flipped over when it crashed into a car piece Sunday afternoon in Hillsborough County.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A Riverview motorcyclist was killed Sunday when a bumper fell off a car causing him to wreck into a guardrail on Interstate-75, Florida Highway Patrol said.
A 52-year-old Riverview woman drove her car southbound on I-75 just north of State Road 618 at about 3:25 p.m. At the same time, as the motorcyclist traveled behind her the bumper of the car fell off, according to investigators. He was unable to avoid crashing into the car piece. This caused his bike to flip over sliding into a guardrail. The driver of the car stopped. The 63-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the wreck location, troopers said.
Investigators are unsure of what caused the bumper to suddenly release from the car.
