A rabies alert for the area surrounding Isabel Avenue in Gibsonton is in effect after a domestic cat tested positive on Wednesday.

GIBSONTON, FL — The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County issued a rabies alert for the area surrounding Isabel Avenue in Gibsonton after a domestic short-haired gray cat tested positive on Wednesday.
All residents and visitors in Hillsborough County should be aware that rabies is present in the wild animal population and domestic animals are at risk if not vaccinated. The public is asked to maintain a heightened awareness that rabies has been detected in the county and there can be outbreaks outside this area.
This rabies alert is for 60 days. The center of the rabies alert is at Isabel Avenue and includes the following boundaries:
