Cellular Tower Climber Arrested In Hillsborough County: Watch

The man live-streamed a video of himself climbing a cell tower in Riverview Saturday night, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

RIVERVIEW, FL — A man who climbed a cellular tower was arrested in Riverview Saturday night, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The agency’s aviation unit was called to help deputies at the tower in the 13000 block of Rhodine Road at 7 p.m. (Watch a video of the climber from the aviation unit below.)

The aviation unit quickly found the climber and directed deputies on the ground to where he was as he climbed back down the tower after live-streaming a video to his social media accounts, the sheriff’s office said.

Once he reached the ground, he was taken into custody.

"Our aviation unit and deputies continue to exemplify our commitment to safety," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "Their expertise and quick action ensured a potentially dangerous situation was resolved safely. We're proud of their dedication to keeping our community safe."
