County Commissioner To Help Residents Make Homes Greener

TAMPA, FL -- Hillsborough County Commissioner Pat Kemp, District 6 Countywide, will host four Greener Hillsborough Homes events around Hillsborough County in May to help residents make their homes more sustainable and resilient.

The sessions will feature local experts who will share information about creating edible gardens and Florida-friendly landscaping; how to save water with micro-irrigation and cisterns; options to finance sustainable home improvements; how to prepare for emergencies; and how to join the Hillsborough Solar Co-op to reduce the cost of going solar.

Kemp will kick things off at 11:45 a.m. and will be available before and after the presentations for questions and comments. County staff and representatives from nonprofit organizations will also be available to answer questions at their interactive table displays both before and after the presentation.

Commissioner Kemp welcomes this opportunity to host the Greener Hillsborough Homes events around Hillsborough County to help homeowners prepare for the upcoming weather events.

• May 22, Jan K Platt, 3910 S. Manhattan Ave., Tampa, Witt Community Room A & B from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• May 23, County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, First-Floor Multipurpose Room
• May 29, C. Blythe Andrews, Jr. Public Library – 2607 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Tampa, FL 33610, Community Room, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

These events are free and open to the public. There will be a prize drawing at each event.
