County Seeks Input On Segment 2 Of South County Potable Water Main
Segment Two is designed to meet future water demands, provide system redundancy and resiliency and increase water pressure to customers.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Hillsborough County Water Resources is hosting an online public engagement beginning Monday, Dec. 5, to provide information and receive feedback from residents about plans to construct Segment Two of a drinking water transmission pipeline in South County.
The South County Potable (Drinking) Water Transmission Main Segment Two is one part of three segments in the overall project designed to enhance service reliability and improve water pressure in south-central Hillsborough County.
The county is currently completing the design and starting construction on approximately 10.7 miles of new 42-inch and 48-inch diameter drinking water transmission mains. These mains will connect the Lithia Water Treatment Plant to the existing water distribution system at U.S. 301.

The online engagement for Segment Two begins Dec. 5 and ends Dec. 18. Residents can participate by visiting HCFLGov.net/HCEngage.
Like Segments One and Three, South County Potable (Drinking) Water Transmission Main Segment Two is designed to meet future water demands, provide system redundancy and resiliency and increase water pressure to homes and businesses.

The work on Segment Two will be on Balm Road from Balm Riverview Road to McGrady Road; south on McGrady Road to the Hillsborough County Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program property; then south and west through the ELAPP property to the Wimauma Community Collection Center on West Lake Drive; and south on West Lake Drive to State Road 674.
The work for Segment One is along Balm Riverview Road from Big Bend Road to Balm Road. The work for Segment Three is along S.R. 674 from West Lake Drive to U.S. 301.
Segment Two is currently in design. Construction of Segment One began in August, and construction of Segment Three began this month. The construction phase of the entire project is expected to be completed in early 2024.
This initiative is part of Hillsborough County’s One Water Campus Program, which is a comprehensive drinking water, wastewater and reclaimed water solution to ensure reliable, resilient and sustainable service in southern Hillsborough County.
The program involves building new treatment facilities, pumping stations and pipelines, as well as improving existing facilities to supply drinking water, collect and treat wastewater, and provide reclaimed water for beneficial use.
Hillsborough County Water Resources planned and developed the One Water Campus projects to help the county keep pace with growth and ensure dependable utility services in the future.
Hillsborough County Water Resources supplies drinking water services to more than 1.5 million customers each day throughout Hillsborough County. As residents and businesses continue to grow in the South County area, Water Resources is planning to meet future demand by increasing its ability to deliver drinking water to both current and future customers.
Public Engagement Opportunity
The county will conduct a virtual engagement using the Hillsborough Engagement Hub to collect feedback from the public on the South County Potable (Drinking) Water Transmission Main Segment Two. Comment for this project is open from Dec. 5 to Dec. 18.
