Couple Opens Code Wiz Learning Center In FishHawk Ranch
A veteran specializing in computers and a teacher have introduced this resource to foster coding skills in children in the community.
LITHIA, FL — Coding for kids has gained in popularity as technology increasingly becomes part of everyday life. Children who learn to code when they're young can set themselves up for a lifetime of success.
That's the reason Reggie and April Moore, owners of the newly opened Code Wiz in FishHawk Ranch, said they decided to open the learning center for kids. The couple said their own son had a passion for computer gaming and designing and they saw an opportunity to leverage that interest into helping him learn the valuable skill of coding that he could one day turn into a career.
Unable to find any local resources to support their son's interests, the couple started to research learning centers that would allow them to bring coding classes to their community, and came across Code Wiz.

With April Moore’s background in education and Reggie Moore’s technology expertise after serving as a network architect for the military, the two found an ideal opportunity for both themselves and their son.
“The main reason why we wanted to bring Code Wiz to FishHawk is to support our son,” said Reggie Moore. “He is very into gaming and designing on computers and not so much into sports like I was at his age. I want to give him the same lessons that sports taught me growing up, but aligned with his interests and passions. With April’s teaching background and my IT expertise, we are excited and ready to provide this new learning resource to families in the FishHawk community.”
Unlike other coding programs, Code Wiz uses a Montessori-style approach and classes are project-based, allowing students to explore at their own pace while building confidence and interest.
Students learn how to build multi-level video games and create animation, are introduced to Python (the most popular programming language) and build websites in HTML, CSS and Javascript.
Classes include Roblox, Minecraft and Unity, where students can create their own versions of these popular games.
For those interested in robotics competitions, Code Wiz invites students to participate in its teams for the national FIRST LEGO League Challenge. The center also offers birthday parties and programs for Girl Scout troops to earn badges, and off-site classes at community partner locations can be arranged.
Code Wiz FishHawk, located at 16132 Churchview Drive, Suite 105, Lithia, hosted its grand opening celebration on Saturday, and is beginning classes this week.
